Safety Goes To Washington

Daniel Loranger, Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, and Bob Duggan, Assistant Vice President of e-Commerce, participated in a Congressional Briefing on Thursday, December 6th. Arranged by the Insurance Technology Coalition (ITC), Safety presented an overview of the current state of Insurance Industry e-commerce initiatives to Congressional members and staff at the Capitol Building.

Participating with AMS Services, Applied Systems and Agency Revenue Tools, Safety provided it's perspective on how technology has affected insurance business processes and functions by highlighting it's technology partnership with Independent Agents in Massachusetts. The briefing provided real life examples from consumer, agent, and carrier perspectives and outlined how common insurance transaction processes are conducted between an Independent Agent and the Insurance Carrier. In addition to the use of emerging technology and e-commerce application development, there was also a discussion highlighting the importance of adopting the emerging ACORD XML data standards and the potential impact that ACORD XML standards adoption could have on the industry. Congressional members, staff and other attendees will use the information presented in this forum as they are actively engaged in writing legislation on Privacy, Database Security, SPAM and other issues that affect the insurance industry.

Safety is proud to work with industry champions like ITC to create a better business environment for Independent Agents. Working with the industry groups that are helping to shape the future of the industry is another way the Safety and the Agents Virtual Community™ is committed to the Independent Agent partnership.
