Massachusetts Billing Information

Combined Bill

Safety Insurance offers a combined billing option for policyholders who wish to consolidate the billing of their personal insurance policies within a single account. Policyholders who choose this option will be billed monthly as long as there is a balance. A billing charge of $6 will be assessed with each bill. A late charge of $25 will be assessed if a payment is not received by the due date.

Electronic Payments - Checks (ACH), Credit and Debit Cards

Online Bill Pay and our Automated Telephone Billing System are convenient ways for you to pay your Safety Insurance bill. You may pay for any Safety Insurance policy or your Combined Bill account using either of these methods and any of the forms of payment listed below:

  • Personal or business checking accounts drawn on US banks (ACH)

Note: Payments from foreign bank accounts and savings accounts are not considered valid forms of payment. Safety Insurance does not offer the ability to pay bills through the use of payment services such as PayPal.

Safety Advantage

When enrolled in Safety Advantage, payments are automatically debited from a checking or savings account each month on a date chosen by you. Any day from the 1st to the 28th may be selected. For complete information, including how to enroll, refer to the authorization form.

Private Passenger Auto Insurance

Your Safety Insurance agent can help you select one of the following billing and payment options that best suits your needs:

  1. You may pay the entire premium in full at the time you apply for insurance or when your policy comes up for renewal.
  2. If you choose to pay less than the full premium, then our installment billing plan will automatically activate. After you pay the down payment, the plan provides for 9 additional payments that are due on the same day each month. A billing charge is assessed on each bill.

The type of billing charge depends on the SDIP points associated with the operators of each vehicle. The billing charge will either be a $6 service fee or a 15% (APR) finance charge. A late charge of $25 is assessed if a payment is not received by the due date.

  1. You may enroll in the Safety Advantage program and have payments automatically withdrawn from your bank account. There are no monthly billing charges when you participate in this payment program.

Note: If you have been cancelled for non-payment during the past two years, a 100% down payment is required.

Homeowners, Personal Umbrella and Dwelling Fire Insurance

Your Safety Insurance agent can help you select one of the following billing and payment options that best suits your needs:

  1. You may pay the entire premium in full at the time you apply for insurance or when your policy comes up for renewal.

  2. If you choose to pay less than the full premium, then you have the choice of either our 5 or 10 payment installment billing plan. A billing charge of $6 will be assessed on all bills except for the renewal bill.

  3. You may enroll in the Safety Advantage program and have payments automatically withdrawn from your bank account. There are no monthly billing charges when you participate in this payment program.

Refund Policy - All Policy Types and Combined Bill

Regardless of the original form of payment, credit account balances resulting from policy cancellations, endorsements or overpayments will be refunded weekly in the form of a check mailed to the policyholder's last known address.
